It’s been quiet here on ye olde blog. I’ve been knitting for Christmas. And to be perfectly honest, been knitting for fun just because it takes less brain power. I promise myself that I will get back to taking myself seriously as soon as the holiday festivities are over, but in the mean time, here’s the sea of wool I’ve been swimming in.
It must be autumn since I’m wearing jeans and a sweater!
The tank is my first attempt at knitting something non-rectangular. It’s Soleil from Knitty.com. It really was an easy knit and a perfect first step into shaping and garments. The yarn was a present from my sister and is a super-soft bamboo wool mix (Fibra Natura Exquisite Bamboo) that, though splitty, and prone to drapeyness in the finished garment, feels so nice against the skin it’s worth it. The lace pattern at the bottom gets lost in the variegated colors of the yarn, but oh well, I still like it. I think it will look good vest-like over a white blouse too.
Do you knit? Then you’ve no doubt contemplated this pattern. I even contemplated it myself, despite my novice knitter status (so it can’t be too intimidating a pattern). Lucky me, my sister jumped in and knit one up for my birthday!
I have got to say that it fits great, looks great (IMHO), and is perfect for those chilly Hawaiian winter mornings and evenings. I love it both fluffy like mine, and lighter like the Knitty one. OK, go now. Knit one for yourself, it’s worth it.
