Check it out!

This weekend is the American Sewing Expo in Novi, Michigan. One of the exhibits is “Breaking Traditions,” an annual show devoted to fundraising for good causes. This year’s theme is Home, and donations support A Place To Bark, an animal rescue operation in Tennessee. With the theme Home, how could I not participate?!

A while back I posted a detail, but here’s my complete donation:

Rooted IX by Kristin La Flamme

As an extra, added bonus, I just found out it was selected as Exhibit Favorite, and I won a bundle of awesome prizes! An art quilt book by two artists whose work I really enjoy, transfer papers that I’ve been intrigued by but never tried, and paint that I’ve heard nothing but good things about. I’m so excited!

Here’s another detail:

  1. herzlichen glueckwunsch! ^-^
    you deserve it! definitely.
the houses are lovely, as all pieces from your houses-series are.
are that pieces of crochet i see there? kind of shell-pattern and some chain crochet sts. for the roots? love that. and i love that you houses have a yard. how could one live without a tiny little bit of nature around?! πŸ˜‰

  2. Congratulations Kristin, an award well deserved.

I imagine you’ll have to try lots harder now to try to question yourself being AN ARTIST. Hun, you’re there.

  3. What a beautiful piece – you would also make a wonderful children’s book illustrator – it reminds me of some of the dreamy book covers I had when I was much younger.

  4. A warm and hearty congratulatons to you on this prize and those great sounding goodies!!! Not at all surprising – the quality of your work is suburb. I am always so happy to see what you are making. I love how you make anything from a caterpillar to the most exquisite of art quilts. I hope things are going well for you- it certainly looks like paradise where you live – especially now with winter fast approaching. Bet you don’t miss Germany too much this time of year?? πŸ™‚

    Hugs from Emily xx
